2013 Winter Update

Beta’s are everywhere!!

Following the release of the 2013 Beta Range into dealerships in late January this year we have had a huge rate of inquiry and take up with the brand.  Everyone loves the new 2T range and appreciate all the attributes of the 4T re-designs..

New customers making the change from their old out-dated two strokes love the electric starter that actually works, the crisp “out of the Box” jetting and the fabulous geometry. Overseas Cody Webb has been killing them in the American and World Extreme enduro’s….so much so that the local market in this area have been chasing the last stock of 2013’s for the Wildwood Extreme Enduro coming up in November.

The 2013 RR300 2T and I have had good time together with a great finish in the Transmoto 12 Hour.  One of the hardest one to date with dry weather and a bump in the rider numbers making it very hard going late in the day.  The Beta kept me going and with the torque of the 300 I could just feed it gears.

We had the pleasure of a few Demo  Day’s this year at Pacific Park in Sydney and Larbert in southern NSW with great success.  Definitely the best way to understand what Beta is about and the best way to back to back test the versions that we do.  It is also heaps more fun to be involved with interested customers in a riding environment rather than dribbling on the phone or in the shop.

Racing in the VMX has been mixed this year.  The RetroMX rounds with Pre-90 bikes have been strong but we lost the Aust Titles to a lack of entries (long story) which was a shame.  We have raced at some new venues such as Oakdale and Glenbawn which has been great.  There is some growing pains in the VMX community at the moment though…some ‘old heads” hanging on to their version of what VMX means to the detriment of the future of the sport.  Pop over to the Ozvmx forum if you dare to grab some examples .. then turn your mouse around and scroll away as quickly as you can!!

The Vinduro scene is still strong and Team Wright Motorcycles went down to Harrow in Victoria with a 4 bike compliment this year.  All of the three team members finished with a gold medal out of only 8? awarded this year.  Given it was a non-competitive event it is hard to claim victory in the Teams … but I will do it anyway. The organisers, VERI, again put on an outstanding event and I will watch in interest as to how they develop further the sport further..

Coming up in October will be a awesome month of riding…. Nowra 8 Hour, Canowindra Cup (Heaven VMX), Cookardinia Vinduro and the Heaven GP at Lakes….  I think I need to leave the pistachio’s in the bowl and fire into some training!!

Wright Motorcycles also became a Beta Trials Dealer this year.  Celebrated with me riding the NSW Trials titles at Pacific Park last month. I finished up 5th in my age class and considering I hadn’t ridden a Trial since Duran Duran was at the top of the charts I was just glad to have finished!! All the same great vibe at Trials as there was when I last rode, but few new rules that I had to catch up on!!

The coming months will also have us busy with Beta Test days featuring all the fleet of 2014’s.  Possibly set down for early November it will be a not to be missed event (Pacific Park) to have and opportunity to test the Beta of your choice!!!  Stay tuned to our News section or the Facebook page to get confirmation of the event.
