he Holbrook round has been the most enjoyable round for me in the calendars I have competed in. This one was no exception.
The Holbrook Club, in particular Murray, have been working hard with the series over the years and he is always looking to improve the events. This year he decided to drop a Four hour Cross Country on us with varying amounts of breaks half way through depending on what class you were in. Over 50’s had a hour off whilst the Experts had 1/2 an hour off at around the 2 hour mark. Over ’35’s had 3/4 break. His reasoning was to have everyone finish at the same time but if I was suspicious it was maybe to make us suffer.
The night before..
Suffer I did and I wasn’t alone. The track was so good you were in constant attack mode and for those that aren’t that fit we quickly found our limit. I was done two laps from the end and was pretty much a passenger.
Jamie and Damo had other issues with the undulating terrain. Damo knocked himself out on a downhill over bars effort and Jamie broke his finger on a branch snag. Damo was not good and went off to Albury Hospital. Thankfully he was discharged (his idea) and is recovering. Not often you see bruised heads thru helmets!
Taylor was the standout with an unexpected third in the super quick Clubman class. Well deserved since he has great natural feel on the bike and he is only going to get better. The Beta Race Ready RR350 is a great choice for him. In saying that he was happy the last lap brought a Checker’d Flag!
Looking forward to next year with a promise to myself to get more fit. Look out Over 50’s class.. I am coming!!
